Miss Hedrick’s 1st graders have been working hard to fill their treat jar and unlock a SURPRISE Desk Pet Shop Day!

But these pets don't come without responsibility! Students learned what it takes to care for a pet, completed an application process, and spent their hard-earned tickets to create special habitats for their new friends!

4th grade families, we have a challenge for you!

While you’re out and about this week, see if your 4th grader can spot some goldenrod growing in your neighborhood or along the road. Ask them what they notice and what they remember from their learning at school. We love when classroom learning makes its way home!

Our 4th graders hit the Oregon Trail…and things got interesting! Covered wagons, tough decisions, unexpected problems, and a whole lot of “Wait…WHAT just happened?!”

Students put their problem-solving skills to the test as they tried to make their way west. Who knew learning history could involve this much strategy, laughter, and a true understanding how hard their parents had it back in the day with no Nintendo Switch (just that old green font on a Macintosh).

Mrs. Workman’s 4th graders are putting their learning into action! In Science, students explored energy transfer with a hands-on collisions lab. During Reading WIN time, they got creative by designing infographic poster boards to showcase their story of the week. Hands-on learning, creativity, and lots of great thinking in 4th grade!

Anything But a Water Bottle Day!

Our Guardians got creative today for Anything But a Water Bottle Day! From silly containers to some VERY unexpected drink holders, our students and staff definitely understood the assignment!

This fun day was another reward our students earned through their amazing support of the Harvest Run fundraiser. We loved seeing the creativity, hearing the laughs, and watching everyone show off their one-of-a-kind “water bottles!”

Teachers Teaching Teachers!

A big shoutout to our amazing 2nd grade team for sharing their knowledge of our HMH reading program with the Harvest Hills staff! They spent time creating helpful slides, sharing resources, and walking teachers through strategies to make HMH work effectively for our students.

Mrs. Schram’s 4th graders brought their reading curriculum to life with a hands-on experiment! As students learn about senses and sight, they created their own pinhole cameras and discovered that the image appears upside down—giving them a glimpse of the image their eyes send to the brain before the brain processes what they see.

A little rain couldn’t stop the fun at Harvest Hills! Our students made the most of the rainy weather with a game of Red Light, Green Light!

Rainy days are even better when they’re filled with movement, laughter, and a little extra fun. Sometimes the best memories are made when you embrace the weather and just keep playing!

Our students brought their learning about landforms to life with a hands-on experiment! After spending the past few weeks learning about landforms and erosion, they created their own mountains by crinkling paper and adding blue marker to represent water.

Then came the rain! Students sprayed water onto their mountains and watched as it traveled down the sides, creating paths along the way. It was a great visual for seeing how water moves across the land and causes erosion over time.

We love when science gets a little messy and learning comes to life!

Our 2nd graders put their math skills to work this week! After learning all about graphs, students became mathematicians and collected some data of their own.

Each student created a question with three answer choices, surveyed their classmates, and then used the results to create their very own bar graph!

We loved seeing the creative questions they came up with and watching them turn real-life data into graphs. Learning math is even more fun when you get to be part of the data!

A little rain may have changed our plans, but it certainly didn’t stop the fun! Some of our runners took to the halls of Harvest Hills, while others were able to get outside and run when the weather allowed.

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible families for being so flexible and accommodating. Whether you were cheering from the cafeteria, the hallways, or outside, our students felt your support every step of the way!
